berneroberland.dialog: What moves tourism behind the scenes

WHAT WAS DISCUSSED

The questions of the dialogue

  • How do the suppliers see the current situation in tourism?
  • Where else are they active — beyond holiday guests?
  • How do they handle the risk of a region that depends heavily on tourism?

OUR INPUT

AI, robotics and automation for the tourism sector

What we propose to businesses in the Bernese Oberland — from a quick first step to a regional project.

01Ease staff shortagesPhysically hard routine work — sorting, folding, picking, filling, storing — is taken over by robots and machines. People stay where they matter: with the guest, on quality and on exceptions.
02Shared logistics for the BödeliWhen hotels share occupancy and event data with their suppliers, an AI plans the routes: bundled deliveries of drinks, linen and catering supplies to the same hotel, fewer empty trips, less congestion in peak season.
03Forecasts instead of gut feelingWeather, season, events and bookings predict demand. Breweries, laundries and catering suppliers produce what is needed — less overproduction, fewer bottlenecks on short-notice orders.
04Automate administrationReceivables, reminders, support and orders by e-mail or phone can be automated quickly with software and AI assistants — low risk and immediate relief.
05Competitive against foreign suppliersForeign providers cut costs with AI and robotics. The region’s answer: automate selectively while winning on proximity, speed, quality and Swissness that a supplier across the border cannot offer.
06Regional information exchange with AIA shared, AI-supported platform where suppliers, hotels and restaurants share knowledge, demand and capacity — an early-warning system for demand and bottlenecks across the Bernese Oberland.
07Bring the staff alongTechnology only works when the team understands it. We train staff hands-on in German — on site or online — and turn routine jobs into new, qualified roles.
